Score Studies
Score Studies
Over the course of each summer, masters students pick a piece of music that they would like to do a score study on. For the first summer, students pick a piece that they may play with their band in the next school year. This could also be the same piece used for the lesson framework, though this is not required. Subsequent summers can start to expand in scope. Students are asked to address general information on the composer and publication, objective information including ranges, technical demand and style/form, and subjective information such as character, depth of expression, and pedagogical value. Below you can find links to all three of my score studies.
